Parody in White

This lovely masquerader represents the parody of what Carnival was like during the post-emancipation era. The top hat and umbrella were part of the attire slave masters wore during their masquerades. The slaves took these elements and mimicked their former slave masters on the streets. The mask is to protect the masquerader’s identity.
